Dr. Pierce's Family Medicines Advertising Print
A Museum Quality Print of Dr. Pierce's Family Medicines, the original advertising poster was made in 1874 and shows the different medicinal products that were available. This was a family of hypochondriacs, the mother has just opened up a box of Dr. Pierce's medicines, the grandfather is reaching for a box along with the eldest daughter who also has her hand outstretched. The father looks like he is in a daze from maybe to much medicine and the youngest daughter is at the table getting ready to play with the medicine. The only one in the family not affected by receiving the new shipment is the grandmother, she is setting by the fire reading a book. Some of the medicines featured in this vintage colorful advertisement is Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription, which was used to treat female complaints, Smart Weed or water pepper which was used to treat diarrhea and dysentry or Bloody Flux; Pierce's Pleasant Purgative Pellets, Dr. Sages Catarrh Remedy, Root and Herbal Juice, Fountain Nasal Injector, Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery which was used to treat coughs, Bronchitis and Consumption. So this is a whos who of 19th century medicine, cures and diseases, excellent to hang in a Doctor's office, drug store or anywhere in the field of medicine. Also great for a general store collector and this print also looks nice enough to hang in a home, as it is nicely done and very colorful. Picture #11 an archival premium advertising print by Brandywine General Store.
