These green ferns were lit by the sun while everything else around them was in the dark. The sun was shining low and came under the tree where these ferns were located and this patch was completely lit with sunshine. This landscape artwork was photographed on the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area Road. With the cool temperatures, plenty of moisture and high elevation the Dolly Sods area of West Virginia is a haven for this type of fern.
