Iris Crested Botanical Art Print
An archival premium Quality Art Print of the Crested Iris as it originally appeared in the Botanical Magazine in 1798 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artwork features a stalk of iris with a large purple bloom and another offshoot of the same iris, that shows how it propagates. The Crested Iris was described in the popular botanical journal as being a native of North America, first introduced into England in 1756 by Esquire Peter Collinson. If the Iris Cristala is planted in bog earth in a moist situation and has the shelter of a hand glass in severe weather, it will readily grow in the open border. The flowers are delicate with little or no scent and arrive around the middle of May. The plant is increased by dividing its roots. Triandria Monogynia. Botanical art print #44
