Iris Elder Scented Purple Bloom Botanical Art Print
An archival premium Quality Botanical art Print of the Elder Scented Iris as it appeared in the Curtis Botanical Journal for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artwork was in Volume 06 on April 01, 1792. This high quality print shows a full blooming iris with the green spear growing up beside the bloom and with another bud getting ready to bloom. The journal describes this flower as getting its name from the scent of its flower which smells like elders. This was one of tallest and handsomest of this genus, sometimes growing to a height of three feet or more if provided with rich moist soil. The flowers come at the end of May and this plant can be readily increased by splitting the roots in the autumn. Iris Sambucina. Botanical art print #26
