Lily Peruvian or Spotted Flowered Alstroemeria Botanical Art Print
An archival premium Quality Art Print of the Spotted Flowered Alstroemeria or the Peruvian Lily, as the flower is known today for sale by Brandywine General Store. The picture was originally published in the Botanical Magazine in the year 1791 and shows a single stalk with two large multi colored blooms at the top. The peruvian lily was described in the popular botanical journal thus, This plant is found in the wild on a mountain to the north of Lima Peru, where it is much valued by the natives on account of its beauty. Introduced into the Royal Garden at Kew by Mrs Kennedy and Lee in the year 1753. The lily flowers from June to October and although a perennial, it is generally raised from seeds and can also be increased by parting its roots, which resemble those of the asparagus.
