The artist painted this flower for his book, Reichenbachia. This yellow flowering orchid was plate #92 in Volume 2 which was published in 1890. The Dendrobium Brymerianum grows in Southeast Asia and China and is usually found at elevations of 4600 to 5300 feet. These locations have heavy monsoonal rains and high humidity during the summer months and in the winter there is little rain with clear and bright skies. It is an epiphyte and has an upright growth habit. The flowers are produced on older canes which will have flowers for several years and will bloom for several weeks at a time.
