Our historical civil war artwork features the monument setting on a large rock with open grassy fields and trees in the background. Printed on the memorial is 5th Maine infantry, 2nd brigade, 1st division, 6th corps. Mustered into the US service Portland Maine June 24, 1861 - served with the Army of the Potomac in the field from 1st Bull Run to Petersburg, mustered out Portland June 27, 1864. The monument is located on Sedgwick avenue and was placed on the Gettysburg battlefield in 1889.
