The Gettysburg monument states that Alexander Steward Webb was a Brevet Major General in the US Army and lived from 1835 - 1911. He commanded the 69th, 71st, 72nd and 106th Pennsylvania Infantry (Philadelphia Brigade) which resisted Longstreet's assault. A longer description then follows.
