Gould, John - Campylopterus Obscurus Hummingbird Print
An archival premium Quality art Print of the Campylopterus Obscurus Hummingbird by John Gould for sale by Brandywine General Store. This artwork was picture or plate number 49 in the book A Family of Hummingbirds in Volume 2 from 1861, which featured a lot of illustrations by Gould. The original was a lithograph on woven paper and measured 21 by 14 inches in size. This hummingbird was described in the book thus, The Male has an upper side which is a shining green grass color, the underside a dakr ashy gray and is sparingly washed with green on the side of the neck, breast and flanks. The wings are a shining purplish brown color. The female is slightly smaller and paler in color but otherwise exactly the same as the male. The picture shows two specimens of these hummingbirds flying around an exotic red, white and blue flower which is growing on a vine which looks tropical. Country Decor art print #117
