There were four candidates running for the office of President of the US in 1860. They were Abraham Lincoln of Illinois with the Republican Party who won with 180 electoral votes and carrying 18 states. The other candidates were John C. Breckenridge of the Southern Democratic Party from Kentucky who won 72 votes, John Bell of the Constitutional Party from Tennessee who won 39 votes and in last place was Stephen A Douglas of the Northern Democratic Party from IL who won 12 electoral votes.
