Chambers, Thomas - Boston Harbor Folk Art Print
An archival premium Quality folk art Print of Boston Harbor by Thomas Chambers for sale by Brandywine General Store. This oil on canvas was completed by the artist from 1843 - 1845. The size of the original work of art measures 27 by 35 inches and is now located at the National Gallery of Art in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC being gifted by Edgar William and Bernice Chrysler Garbisch in 1980. Boston Harbor typifies Chamber's use of repeated, rounded contours and boldly saturated colors bearing a strong resemblance to the popular prints of the time. This work was sold at auction in 1845 in which several works by this artist were listed. His paintings were encouraged to be bought in pairs.
