Printed on the monument is Army of the Potomac Second Corps, Artillery Brigade Battery 1. Six 12 pounders. Lieutenant George A Woodruff Commanding, Lieutenant Tully McCrea Commanding. Assisted in repelling Longstreet's assault on Ziegler's Grove to the left of Evergreen Cemetery. Woodruff was killed and McCrea took over.
