A 2005-S Jefferson Western Waters or Ocean in View Nickel which has been certified as being perfect by PCGS at Proof 70 Deep Cameo. As of this listing only 986 of these five cent pieces have been good enough to earn the distinction of a perfect 70 grade. The Jefferson Western Waters nickel is part of the Westward Journey series of Nickels issued by the mint to commemorate the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark expedition into the new vast lands of the Louisiana Purchase. The design on this nickel signifies the moment in time when the Lewis and Clark expedition finally saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time. Clark wrote in his journal on November 07, 1805 "Ocean in View! O! The joy!", this verse is on this nickel along with a view of the ocean from on top of a bank.
