An obsolete Alabama 50 cent treasury note issued during the Civil War on January 1st, 1863 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The Criswell number of this scrip is AL CR#3, the center vignette shows a large map of the state of Alabama underneath a tree, at the lower right is Juliet Opie Hopkins, who provided hospital and medical care and facilities for the Southern troops during the Civil War. There is a blue 50 cts overprint across the face of the bill. Our estimation of grade is almost uncirculated with some discoloring around the protectors and above them. The serial number is 53345, this series of notes is from the first issue of currency of the state during the Civil War which consisted of all lower denominations from 1.00 down.
