To the left of the upright formation is a flatter larger rock which reminds me of the Sphinx in Egypt. This park is a landscape of contrasting colors, land forms and textures which are unlike any other place in the World. Arches Park contains over 2,000 natural stone arches, hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks. The land area is 76, 679 acres and includes an abundance of wildlife including the spadefoot toad, scrub jay, peregrine falcon, red fox, desert bighorn sheep, kangaroo rat, mule deer, mountain lion, midget faded rattlesnake, yucca moth, western rattlesnake, western collared lizard, just to name some of the more popular species.
