Barraud, William - A Couple of Foxhounds with a Terrier art Print
An archival premium Quality art Print of A Couple of Foxhounds with a Terrier Property of Lord Henry Bentink by William Barraud for sale by Brandywine General Store. This oil on canvas was finished by the artist in 1845 and measured 44 by 56 inches in size, he signed it in the lower left corner. The scene shows a pair of foxhounds with the younger one playing with a Terrier pup. Behind the dogs are a bright red riding valice and other riding gear along with a new pair of tall black riding boots, showing that the people owning these dogs had plenty of wealth. The original is now at the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven Connecticut. This picture was most likely commissioned by Lord Henry Bentink who lived from 1804 to 1870. He was Master of the Rufford Hounds from 1835 - 36, Master of the Burton Hounds from 1842 to 1862, MP for the North Nottinghamshire from 1846 to 1857 and a family trustee of the British Museum. This artwork was acquired by Paul Mellon in December of 1966 for a price of 7,675.00, who later bequeathed the painting to the Yale Center for British Art on December 07, 1966.
