Caravaggio - Saint Catherine art print

The oil painting features St. Catherine beside a wooden wheel like the one she was crucified upon. St. Catherine is the patron Saint of Libraries as well as teachers and people of learning. The sitter for the portrait caused a lot of controversy as it was Fillide Melandroni, a well known Roman prostitute whom Caravaggio had fallen in love with.
