An archival premium Quality Botanical art Print of the Cardinal's Flower originally published in the Curtis Botanical Magazine in 1795 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artwork features a red spike with dark red blooms and two leaves all on a single stem. The Cardinal's flower was described in the journal thus - This species of Lobelia so eminently distinguished for the richness of its scarlet blossoms is a native of the colder as well as the warmer parts of America. It has been cultivated in England for over 150 years. In favourable situations it grows to 3 to 4 feet but will only thrive in certain stiff and moist soils. The cardinal flower will bloom from the end of July to October and is increased by parting it by the roots, by cuttings of the stalk or from the seed. Lobelia Cardinalis. Botanical art print #29
