Crabapple Japanese Flowering in Full Bloom by Houtte
An archival premium Quality art Print of the Japanese Flowering Crab apple tree in full bloom by Louis Van Houtte for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist painted this ornamental tree for his botanical books, The Flowers of the Greenhouses and Gardens of Europe which was published in the mid part of the 19th century. The Flowering Japanese Crab apple tree is also known as the purple choke berry and originated in Japan and East Asia. This flowering tree print would make an excellent companion to the same tree painted by Houtte which is in full bud which is pictured elsewhere. The flowers on this tree are white or pale pink and the fruit is small in size, measuring around 1 centimeter in diameter and is red and yellow in color. This fruit makes an excellent jelly and also good for wildlife and birds. This tree grows best in the full sun with well drained soil and is disease resistant. Houtte labeled this print "en pleine floraison" which is French for in full bloom. Malus Floribunda Sieb. Botanical art print #69
