An archival premium Quality Botanical Art Print of the Cucumis Melo variety Dudaim by Louis Van Houtte for sale by Brandywine General Store. The little gourd or pumpkin is more commonly known as Queen Anne's Pocket Melon. Van Houtte drew this small round fruit for his botanical journal, The Gardens and Greenhouses of Europe. This particular vine was in volume 14 and was plate or picture number 217. The white flesh of Queen Anne's Pocket Melon can be eaten however these fruits were more commonly used for their irresistible sweet fragrance. Victorian ladies would carry the picture perfect miniature melons in their pockets for the sweet scent, hence the nickname of Queen Anne's Pocket Melon. These 3 inch round golden fruits are striped and speckled with dark orange colors. Like all melons they need heat and well drained soil to grow well and full sun. Botanical art print #117
