da Vinci Leonardo - St. John the Baptist art print
An archival premium Quality art Print of St. John the Baptist painted by Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci between 1513 - 16 for sale by Brandywine General Store. This is believed by many to be the artist's last work. The oil on walnut wood was controversial as St. John was usually depicted as a fiery gaunt man living in the desert subsiding on a diet of locusts and honey, while in this art da Vinci presents him as woman like in appearance with the same enigmatic smile as the Mona Lisa. The pointing towards the Heavens represents salvation through Baptism as St. John the Baptist preached. Picture #113 a religious art print made from an antique painting.
