Hay Making on Skyline Drive in VA Art Print
An archival premium Quality art Print of Hay Making on the Skyline Drive in Virginia in 1940 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artwork shows a field of small haystacks with all the labor being done by hand and not machines. Adding to the antique feel of this farming scene is the split rail chestnut fencing running along the lower edge of the field. Split rail fences were a common sight in the rural country side as late as the 1980s, but they have now mostly all disappeared. Since the American chestnut is now extinct this is a sight that will not come back anytime soon. The colors are the sepia tones that were common when this vintage agricultural scene was photographed.
