An archival premium Quality Art Print of The Official Portrait of John Fitzgerald Kennedy by Aaron Shikler for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist painted this oil on canvas in the year 1970. The size of the original artwork is 50 by 34 inches and now belongs to the White House Historical Association. Kennedy was born May 29, 1917, the son of Joseph and Rose Kennedy. He became the first Roman Catholic President when he was elected our 35th President in 1960 as well as the youngest man to assume this office. In his inaugural address he stated "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country". On November 22, 1963, Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas while riding in his motorcade through the city streets. When Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy had this portrait commissioned, she told the artist she didn't want the same type pose of JFK looking directly at the viewer, showing bags under his eyes and the penetrating gaze, she was tired of that look and pose. So the artist painted the President looking down and his arms crossed, appearing as he is deep in thought. Famous people art print #38
