Koller Rudolf - Horses Balking at Approaching Storm art print
An archival premium Quality art Print of Horses Balking at an Approaching Storm by Rudolf Koller for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this oil on canvas in the year 1849, the original size was 36 by 45 inches and was recently sold by Sotheby's for a total of 74,000.00, about 25 grand more than the estimate. Koller makes this image so real you can almost hear the thunderclaps from the storm that is on the horizon. He perhaps got his knowledge and ability to paint animals so realistically from his father, who was a butcher. Koller decided early on though that he did not want to be a butcher, but an artist who specialized in painting horses. The scene shows two horses, a white and brown, bucking and rearing from the approaching storm or maybe they are even more scared from the rattlesnake that has just raised its ugly head in the vines and is rattling and spooking the horses.
