An archival premium Quality art Print of Blonde Boy with Primer, Peach and Dog by Ammi Phillips for sale by Brandywine General Store. The artist finished this folk art painting in the year 1836 while he was living in the area of Kent, Connecticut. The size of the original is 48 by 30 inches and now located at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Phillips was an itinerant painter who was a very prolific American country portrait painter who perhaps painted as many as 2,000 portraits over his career. It is hard to determine exactly how many works of art he actually did create, because when he moved to a different area of the country he then adopted the ways of painting of where he lived. So with the different styles, the experts sometimes have trouble determining some of his actual works. This portrait is elegant and spirited, displaying a mature skill of an artist who had no academic training but possessing brilliant talent. The boy in the portrait has been tentatively identified as Aaron D. Smith of Catskill, Green County, New York. Country Decor print #161
