Our original photographic artwork features a landscape with two rows of civil war defensive rail pickets on either side of the lane leading to the Robinson House. James Robinson was born a free black man in 1799 and built his house here which was in the midst of the fighting of the first Battle of Manassas. He was possibly a member of the wealthy Carter family of Pittsylvania plantation.
