Rembrandt Van Rijn - Minerva
An archival premium Quality art Print of Minerva by Rembrandt Van Rijn for sale by Brandywine General Store. This masterpiece by one of the most famous artists in history was painted in 1631 and now hangs in a museum in Berlin, Germany. The scene shows a young woman with bright blonde hair dressed in a rich red velvet dress setting in a parlor or study of some kind. Above her head is hanging a shield, sword and helmet. This painting does show a lot of wear, we have gotten some of these removed, but plenty still remain. Since the original painting is now almost 400 years old, not much else can be expected. Minerva, or Pallas Athena, was originally the goddess of war, but since the Renaissance she has represented the intellectual aspect of science and art by virtue of her wisdom.
