Our original photographic artwork features a landscape with rocks laid out to represent where the Robinson House was during the 1st Battle of Manassas or Bull Run. James Robinson was born in 1799, a free black man possibly from the Carter family of Pittsylvania Plantation. Robinson bought 170 acres on Henry Hill in 1840 and soon built his log home here. He was the 3rd richest free black man in Prince William county prior to the Civil War. Even though this house was in the midst of the fighting of the 1st Battle of Bull Run the house escaped major damage.
