T-44 One Dollar Civil War Issue 1862 PF-02 rare full border
A T-44 Steamship at Sea one dollar obsolete southern civil war treasury bill issued in 1862 for sale by Brandywine General Store. Type 44 bills are hard to find with the full borders, this one has a full border, it is tight at the bottom left end, but the line is still there. In order to save money these bills were crowded onto the sheets of paper leaving very little room between the notes for the cutting. This was the first one dollar bill issued by the Confederate government in the civil war. The center vignette features a steamship at sea, Lucy Pickens, wife of the South Carolina governor is on the right, Liberty standing by a shield is on the left. In the Fricke confederate currency book, he has this example listed as PF-2, which means it is from the 2nd series. Our estimate on grade to be used as a reference only is fine with a scarce full border line. The pictures show the front and back of the actual Type 44 CSA currency that is for sale.
