An original premium quality art print of George Weikert house with picket fence in Gettysburg National Military Park for sale by Brandywine General Store. Our archival civil war artwork features the historic civil war structure with a white picket fence. When the Weikert family returned home after the Battle of Gettysburg, they found wounded soldiers still in the parlor and amputated arms and legs piled up outside the windows. The home was used as a field hospital during the Battle of Gettysburg. The Weikert farm and home was purchased by the New Jersey brigade to preserve the land they fought so hard to hold during the battle. It is now owned by the National Park Service.
