Battle of Allatoona Pass Civil War Art Print
An archival premium Quality Art Print of The Battle of Allatoona Pass which was fought on October 04, 1864 for sale by Brandywine General Store. This was the first major battle of General Hood's disastrous Nashville campaign. The artist of this print was Thure de Thulstrup and engraved by L. Prang and company. The picture shows the Confederate Soldiers with the confederate flag charging up a hill that is defended by Union troops with a small cabin on the right side. General Hood sent a CSA division led by Samuel G. French to Allatoona pass to try and capture the Federal Garrison located there that held over 1 million rations for soldiers and also destroy the railroad bridge crossing over the Etowah River, he failed in both concerns. This was a small but very bloody battle, the Union lost 796 soldiers and 897 Confederate Soldiers were lost. The Union Side was made up of the 93rd Illinois Infantry, the 18th Wisconsin Infantry and the 4th Minnesota Infantry. Some of these soldiers were armed with Henry repeating rifles and they were able to hold the garrison and protect the railroad, sending the Confederate States of America away with another loss. The Union Troops were led by John M. Corse who was injured during the battle, he sent a message to Sherman saying that he was short a cheek bone and one ear but am able to lick all hell yet.
