Private Luther Hart Clapp 37th Virginia Infantry art print
An archival premium Quality art Print of a Portrait of Private Luther Hart Clapp for sale by Brandywine General Store. Private Clapp served with Company C of the 37th Virginia Infantry Regiment is shown in his full uniform and a two piece Virginia state seal belt buckle and a Boyle and Gamble sword. Private Clapp enlisted in the Confederate Army on May 10, 1861 at Lebanon, Virginia by Captain J. F. McElhany. He was in and out of the hospital a few times in Richmond for the stated reason of rheumatism. The 37th Virginia Infantry Regiment served the CSA from July 1861 until the very end of the Civil War when 2 Officers and 39 men surrendered at Appomattox. This regiment was active at First Kernstown and McDowell, they took part in General Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign, the Seven Day's Battles and Cold Harbor. The regiment moved to the Shenandoah Valley with Lt. General Jubal Early and were involved in the very last campaign of the Civil War at Appomattox. We have done some improvements on this fine art print, but keep in mind this was made over an original Civil War tintype picture which had a lot of faults. We have the portrait looking much better, but there are still a lot of faults visible on this print, however this tends to give a more authentic look to the portrait. Civil War art print #32
