Printed on the face of the Memorial is Erected by the 91st Pennsylvania Volunteers, in Memory of Brigadier General Weed - 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 5th Crops and Lt. Charles E. Hazlett 5th US Artillery, who fell on this spot July 2, 1863. The monument was placed on the Gettysburg battlefield in 1883 on Little Round Top. When this regiment placed a bigger monument on the battlefield, this one was repurposed to honor General Weed and Lt. Hazlett.
