Our original photographic artwork features a close up view of the marker with a rail fence behind which has the following printed - Wade Hampton of South Carolina was wounded here on July 21, 1861. Battle of First Manassas (Bull Run). This was the first of five injuries suffered by Wade Hampton during the Civil War. The 2nd one came at the Battle of Seven Pines and the last 3 injuries came while fighting in Gettysburg.
