Van Gogh Vincent - Cafe Table with Absinthe Fine Art Print
An archival premium Quality art Print of Cafe Table with Absinthe painted by Vincent Van Gogh at Paris in 1887 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The scene is a still life showing a bottle of water and full glass of absinthe on a table in a cafe, with the viewer looking out the window of the cafe to the street. Absinthe could be a toxic drink but it became a favorite among people during the latter part of the 19th century including artists such as Van Gogh. Absinthe was a highly alcoholic distilled spirit made from botanicals including the flower and leaves of Grande Wormwood, Green Anise and Sweet Fennel, it usually had a natural green color but could also be distilled to be clear. Absinthe was usually drank with sugar and water, a special spoon would hold a sugar cube on top of the glass and iced water was then trickled over the sugar cube, this gave the drink its characteristic cloudiness.
