An archival premium Quality Part rint of Croquet Scene painted by American artist Winslow Homer in 1866 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The American Artist started did illustration work during the Civil War, when the war ended he started painting, beginning with bright outdoor scenes. These early paintings, often executed in series, feature scenes of upper-class leisure pursuits—in this case, women and men competing with one another in the popular sport of croquet, which had recently been introduced to the United States from the British Isles.
