N. K. Fairbanks Lard Refiners Advertising Print
An archival art Print of N. K. Fairbanks Lard Refiners Advertising Lithograph for sale by Brandywine General Store. This comical ad from 1890 states that it was presented with the compliments of N. K. Fairbanks and Company who were lard refiners with offices in Chicago and St. Louis. Under this writing is a cute print of two small pigs with wings, called Fairbanks Cherubs, who look like they are hoping and praying they aren't chosen for the next batch of lard. They are actually modeled after Raphal's Sistine Madonna which is now located in Dresden, Germany. Nathaniel Kellogg Fairbanks was a Chicago Industrialist whose company manufactured soaps as well as animal and baking products. They got their raw manufacturing supplies from the great meat packing houses that were in Northern Illinois. Gold Dust Washing Powder featuring the iconic Gold Dust Twins and distributed by Lever Brothers was one of the most successful cleansing product lines in the twentieth century in north America. This company was well known for their advertisements, which is obvious with the subject matter and look of this ad. This print would also be excellent for any hog farmer or worker in the pork industry to hang in their study or workplace. Picture #61 an archival premium advertising print by Brandywine General Store.
