1999-S New Jersey Statehood Quarter PCGS Proof 70 Deep Cameo
A 1999-S New Jersey Statehood Quarter certified by PCGS at Proof 70 Deep Cameo. As of this listing only 360 of these twenty five cent pieces have been good enough to earn the distinction of a perfect 70 grade by PCGS. This Quarter was the 3rd in the fifty states quarter program by the US Mint. The scene depicts General George Washington and his Revolutionary Soldiers crossing the Delaware River enroute to Trenton NJ and then onward to Princeton. This all takes place on a very cold snowy Christmas night in which General Washington hopes to take the British by surprise. He accomplishes this and wins the battles of both cities, this gives his beleaguered soldiers much hope which carries over to a final victory. They also gain much needed supplies which helps them through this very bad winter. The quarter design is based on the 1851 painting by Emmanuel Leutze entitled "Washington Crossing the Delaware". Our coins look much better than the photo suggests, any scratches or blemishes you see are on the plastic slab and not the coin itself, please keep in mind our images are magnified around 10 times, so this makes the least fault look much worse than it actually is. Also this coin is of course, silver in color, but modern proofs, even though among the most beautiful of the coins, with their glossy surfaces reflect all of the light giving them the black color when photographed. Rest assured that the coin you purchase will look great, it has to since it is in a PCGS 70 holder. Brandywine General Store has more than one of these 1999-S certified PCGS PR70DCAM New Jersey Statehood quarters available for sale, so you might receive a different PCGS certification number. This coin will make an excellent addition to a Quarter PCGS registry set.
