1877 Baltimore Document Lamp Lighter Salaries
A very interesting and scarce document from the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore showing the lamp lighters the city had employed and their salary during 1877 for sale by Brandywine General Store. Each lamp lighter made 16.00 per month while the superintendent of the lamp lighters made 20.00. Probably not many documents left showing lamp lighters employed by a city, this is a profession you never think about today.
