Some motorcycle news for the year of manufacture of 1972 follows:

Harley Davidson introduces the 1000cc XLH/XLCH sportster. Harley also installs the first disc brakes on a production motorcycle, the ElectraGlide. They also purchase the remaining half interest of the Italian firm Aermacchi and are now full owners. In 1972 Honda finally admits that in order to build a competitive 250cc motocrosser, they had to have another 2 stroke motor. The CR 250 Eisinore was designed and reached the marketplace the following year. It immediately becomes the most effective production race bike in its class and Gary Jones wins the AMA motocross championship on this bike during its first year.
