Ohio Cuyahoga Falls Summit County Bank five cents obsolete change note 1862
A five cents obsolete change note made by W. A. Hanford thru the Summit County Bank at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio during the Civil War in 1862 for sale by Brandywine General Store. Our estimation of grade on this nickel obsolete money is uncirculated. The vignette on this small sized civil war change note features a large eagle with outspread wings. Hanford was most likely a merchant in the Cuyahoga Falls Ohio area during the Civil War. Silver and even copper coins were very scarce during the Civil War so businesses resorted to issuing paper change notes such as this example so they could keep on conducting their business. This note however is a remainder and never issued. We have included a picture of this obsolete currency to help you decide on the condition yourself before purchasing.
