We stock a wide selection of Southern Obsolete Currency that was issued during the Civil War as well as the antebellum era before the war. The South issued a plethora of obsolete money during the war as they had very little precious metals for coinage. Businesses, banks, towns and the states all issued their own private currencies. Of course, after the Civil War this currency was all cancelled and worthless, therefore not much of it was saved, leading to some very scarce issues today. Our Southern Currency is listed by the state it was issued, then sorted by the locale of issuance in alphabetical order. The state treasury notes will begin with the state name.
