This view of the Monument from the air gives you an idea of the large scale of the place with the people walking up the stairs and on the huge walkway in front of the monument. You can see the back of the cloverleaf roads that lead out onto the bridge over the water. This huge monument and statue was dedicated to honor the fallen President in 1922 and is located at the west end of the National Mall. The building itself is in the form a Greek Doric Temple and contains the large seated sculpture of Abraham Lincoln and inscriptions of two of Lincoln's well known speeches, The Gettysburg Address and his Second Inaugural Address.
