Nationals Baseball Stadium Art Print
A Museum Quality Art Print of the Washington Senators or Nationals Baseball Park for sale by Brandywine General Store. The first major league baseball game was played here on March 30, 2008 when the Nats hosted the Atlanta Braves with President George Bush II throwing out the opening pitch. The stadium was built at a cost of 611 million dollars and seats over 41,000 fans. The Washington Monument and the Capitol Building are visible from certain areas of the stadium. It is located along the Anacostia River in the Navy Yard section of Washington DC and replaced RFK stadium as the Nationals Home Park. The field dimensions are left field 337 feet, left center field 377 feet, center is 402 feet, Right Center 370 feet and to hit a home run in right field you have to hit the ball 335 feet. The Nationals were formed in Montreal Quebec in 1969 as the Montreal Expos and were the first major league baseball team in Canada. Due to low attendance in later years the team was relocated to DC in 2005 and renamed the Nationals or sometimes also known as the Senators. Ironically, this was the first major league baseball relocation since the previous DC Nationals team moved to Arlington Texas and became the Texas Rangers in 1972. This picture shows the entire stadium, with the front walk and the dates corresponding to important dates in DC baseball history with the city lying beyond. The four advertisements on the score board at the time of this picture were for The Washington Post, Miller Lite Beer, PNC Bank and Coca Cola. Picture #37 an archival geographic print from the Highsmith Collection.
