1955 Illinois Municipal license plate
An antique 1955 Illinois Municipal shortie License Plate for sale by Brandywine General Store. The 55 IN DMV government tag is black with orange. This is a low 3 digit number shortie plate, made before sizes were standardized in 1957 by the Federal Government. If the state didn't need the room to put the Registration number, they just made a short enough plate to hold what letters were needed, thus saving metal and money. The department of motor vehicles registration number is M-153, the condition is very good plus.
