Burksville Cumberland Bank KY rare Obsolete one dollar banknote 1818
A very rare obsolete one dollar banknote issued by the Cumberland Bank of Burksville on December 28, 1818 for sale by Brandywine General Store. This was one of the early Kentucky wildcat or forty thieves banks, opening in 1818 and failing shorty thereafter. The KY obsolete reference book rates this note at R-7, meaning that only 1 to 5 of these notes are thought to still exist. Our estimate of grade is fine with some staining, the serial number is 389. A great memento of early Kentucky history when it was actually still the frontier.
