Caravaggio - Rest on the Flight into Egypt art print
An archival premium Quality art Print of Rest on the Flight into Egypt painted by Italian baroque artist Caravaggio in 1597 for sale by Brandywine General Store. The scene is not from the Bible itself but around a legend that started in the middle ages about the Holy Family escaping from King Herod into Egypt. While stopped the Christ Child had the fruit trees to bend over so Joseph could pick the fruit and then caused a spring to gush forth from their roots so they could quench their thirst. This scene depicts Mary asleep while holding the Baby Jesus in her lap, Joseph is holding a manuscript so an Angel can play the viol.
