A beautiful shot of Ashby Hall at James Madison University which shows a bright blooming spring tree on the left, dark green grass in the front yard and all underneath a deep blue sky with several big trees to add the finishing touches to this outstanding architecture. Ashby Hall was the second dormitory to be built by the State Teachers College now JMU. This dorm was built in 1911 and was known for several years as simply Dormitory #2, it was built to handle the growing enrollment of the college which by this time was up to 300 students. In addition to student living space this dorm also provided a basketball court and a badly needed gymnasium complete with Indian Clubs and dumbbells.
