Ohio Cuyahoga Falls Summit County Bank Set of 4 Obsolete Change Notes 1862
A set of four obsolete change notes made by W. A. Hanford thru the Summit County Bank at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio during the Civil War in 1862 for sale by Brandywine General Store. This nicely matched set consists of the 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents denominations. Our estimation of grade to be used as a reference only should average around almost uncirculated to uncirculated. Hanford was most likely a merchant in the Cuyahoga Falls Ohio area during the Civil War, since silver and even copper coins were very scarce during the Civil War so businesses resorted to issuing paper change notes such as these so they could on keep conducting their business. These notes though are remainders and never issued. We have included a picture of the front and back of this set of obsolete currency to help you decide on the condition yourself before purchasing.
