Rousseau was a primitive or naive French artist, he always longed to get critical claim and fame, but never really did in his lifetime. It all came later though, he would be rich beyond his wildest dreams today. Lake Daumesnil is an idyllic scenic setting on the Bois de Vincennes on the outer edge of Paris. This composition shows a few large tall trees around a small part of this lake. A walkway in yellow is on the right side of the water with people walking and enjoying the scenery. A huge colorful rainbow fills the center of this painting, coming down into the water between two of the tall trees. Famous artists print #166
